COVID Pandemic changes all giving trends; India takes a giant leap to rank 14 in the World Giving Index 2021
- The COVID-19 pandemic has upended giving trends across the world as per Charities Aid Foundation’s (CAF) World Giving Index (WGI) 2021 [1]. Several Western economies have slipped down the Index due to COVID lockdowns. But the good news for India is that it climbed up to the 14th rank, which Is several notches up from its 10-year average rank of 82 --published in a special 10-year anniversary edition in 2019.

Indian giving rises over past decade, says World Giving Index by CAF
- New Delhi| October, 15, 2019| Philanthropy in India has risen over the past 10 years. Out of 128 countries surveyed by the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) in the 10th Anniversary edition of the World Giving Index [1] India ranks 82. The average figures for India over the past decade show that 34 percent people helped a stranger, 24 percent donated money and 19 percent volunteered or donating time.
