Background of CAF
CAF has been in India for over two decades. In this time we have played a key role in channelling international institutional and individual philanthropic funds to social sector projects in India. CAF India has had a stellar record in fundraising for diverse causes like education, health, environment etc.
In view of the changes in the regulatory framework, CAF is in the process of redefining its role in India. Aside from fund raising, CAF India is planning to play a more active role in conceiving and executing projects. It is evolving its own unique lens on development and plans to evolve coalitions that will create social impact at scale.

Position Overview
- Identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of grants from private institutions (global and local), philanthropic foundations, multi and bilateral organizations and corporates.
- To grow resources available to CAF, with particular focus on the philanthropic/ institutional fundraising domain.
- Strategic planning with an aim to bring new donors and generate increased inflows, and growth in fundraising.
- Building strategic partnerships and alliances, also with government agencies, to amplify impact, mobilise resources and enhance effectiveness of giving.
Key Responsibilities:
- Building a robust pipeline of funding.
- Research and identify potential donors and communicate with donors for increased ‘giving’
- Develop contacts and networks in the different types/range of institutions/donors.
- Develop and frame proposal ideas that reflect CAFI’s programmatic priorities and best interests and are competitive according to donor interests and strategies.
- Write and edit requests for funding to potential donors such as pitch decks, letters of inquiry, concept papers, proposals, donation requests, and grant applications.
- Co create grant proposals with relevant NGOs .
- Ensure timely completion of proposals, reports, and other key deliverables required by institutional partners. Ensure all submissions meet internal and external requirements.
- Designing and implementing institutional fundraising plan, quarterly action plans, achieve targets, and develop relationships with donors.
- Work closely with other units of CAF, particularly the programs, marketing & communications, finance, and CAF’s global alliance to ensure CAF fundraising is represented and positioned appropriately.
- Help grow and strengthen CAF’s brand and reputation as a provider of strategic advice and thought leadership, demonstrating how we add value to our clients and to NGOs.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Post Graduate in relevant field.
- Social sector and allied experience.
- 7-10 years of relevant experience in resource mobilization.
- Specialized knowledge of institutional fundraising best practices, proposal development, and donor solicitation.
- Understanding of the legal frameworks and compliances related to giving e.g. FCRA, CSR frameworks etc.
Skills & Competencies:
- Proven track record in resource mobilization.
- Preference will be given to those who have brought in sizeable grants and have. experience with large proposals involving collaboratives and domestic and international donors.
- Knowledge of social sector and developmental work.
- Experience of working with government alliances or projects.
- Strong proposal writing skills .
- Presentation and communication skills. including the gravitas to represent CAF at the highest levels within institutions, companies and governments.
- Confidence to speak publicly, influencing and negotiating skills.
- Understanding of Corporate CSR, philanthropic and foundations, bilaterals and multilaterals.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to deliver high-quality written outputs in English.
- Flexibility to travel and to attend meetings outside of normal working hours.
Location:
The position will be based at the CAF India headquarters at New Delhi.
