Tsunami Rebuilding Lives Fund

The Tsunami Rebuilding Lives Fund was set up by CAF India to facilitate resources towards the rehabilitation of families and individuals struck by the devastating tsunami along India's eastern seaboard in December 2004. The Tsunami swept along 2,500 kilometres from Tamilnadu to Kerala and Andhra Pradesh, and along an 800 kilometer stretch in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands affecting 2.79 million people in 1,089 villages.

Destruction caused by tsunamiGiven the extensive damage, both in terms of destruction and lives lost, providing support to the affected communities was our key challenge. The fund was set up to facilitate resources from corporations, foundations and individuals towards short-term relief and long-term rehabilitation of families and individuals living in these communities.
