A livelihood not only generates income but also allows an individual to live with dignity and hope.

The CAF India Thematic Fund for Livelihood Promotion aims to provide donors with an opportunity to address macro-level livelihood intervention strategies. It recognizes the need to work on both political and economic empowerment strategies in order to address the core issue of poverty.

Objectives

The objectives of the Thematic Fund for Livelihood Promotion are to:

  • generate a macro perspective on livelihood promotion and fund appropriate activities
  • develop common strategies and approaches with multiple stakeholders (government, corporate, financial institutions) so as to not replicate the services
  • support institutions with a focus on sustainability
  • address gender and class/caste issues while developing appropriate projects and programmes
  • reach the poorest and amongst them the most marginalized women
