From the CEO’s Desk
The other day a friend was lamenting about the unusually hot weather at this time of the year in Delhi. The conversation moved on to the climate extremes that have suddenly become the norm; the lack of space, increasing vehicular traffic and associated air pollution together with the increase in respiratory diseases - a vastly different world from the one that we inhabited as children.
Is it possible to change the situation? To consume less and contribute more? To move beyond the tokenism of one day events?
CAF believes in the ability of people to take the steps that have now become essential to maintaining a sustainable habitat.
Our latest newsletter focuses on some of these very efforts, whether in the form of conservation of various species, or conservation of water that has resulted in a movement in this direction.
Warm Regards,
Amita |

Our planet is in trouble!
Almost every day we seem to hear of yet another problem affecting the environment - pollution, acid rain, global warming, the destruction of rainforests and other wild habitats, the decline and extinction of thousands of species of animals and plants.
With media attention now on tigers and a host of MNCs promoting things like the Earth Day, we thought we would focus this quarter on Wildlife and Environment Conservation and some of the work that CAF India is doing.

Spreading water literacy on wheels
Charity Partner: Janhit Foundation
Location: NOIDA and Greater NOIDA
Duration: August 1, 2009 to July 31, 2010
Donor: Adobe India
In the last few years, NOIDA has witnessed a surge in construction and building activity which has not only changed the city's landscape but has also affected areas below the ground. The intense construction work has adversely affected the water situation in NOIDA. According to well known environmental agencies, the ground water table is sinking by 10 to 20 feet every year. Water pumps in NOIDA are no longer able to extract water from the ground because of the heavy burden on underground water resource.
