The Kunhali family: Empowering women to overcome tobacco dependence

The Kunhali family has been supporting several CAF charities that provide healthcare services to women focusing on areas such as cancer prevention and mental health.

With their core target group in mind, the Kunhali family set up A Donor Advised Fund to control dependence on tobacco amongst women in Chennai. The family's contribution has enabled the Cancer Institute's Tobacco Cessation Centre to help over 300 women. Under this project, intensive tobacco awareness programmes have been conducted for self-help groups through intensive group interactions and discussions.


Shyamala Shiveshwarkar: Legal aid for prisoners in Tihar Jail, self-employment for the disabled and animal welfare

self-employment for the disabledShyamala, a former journalist, is a long time donor of CAF charities. She has set up three Donor Advised Funds with CAF India. She campaigns tirelessly for the rights of HIV positive widows, prisoners, people with disabilities and animals.

Shyamala set up a Donor Advised Fund to help disadvantaged inmates at Tihar Jail, Delhi's largest prison. With her support, the Aids Awareness Group was able to provide free legal aid to both Indian and foreign prisoners. She also set up a fund with Family of Disabled (FOD) to help people with disabilities start small businesses. Her other passion is animal welfare and she has been a generous supporter of Animal India Trust.


Mrs Geeta Ghooi: Self-employment for the disabled

Mrs Ghooi is committed to helping people with disabilities fend for themselves and contributes generously towards this cause.

Through a Donor Advised Fund, Mrs Ghooi has been able to contribute towards core support for the Apna Rozgar Scheme set up by Family of Disabled (FOD). The Apna Rozgar Scheme rehabilitates people with different disabilities and helps them become self-reliant by teaching them how to operate small businesses.


Praveen Gupta: Caring for children with HIV/AIDS

A New Delhi based businessman, Praveen Gupta has set up a Donor Advised Fund with CAF India to reach out to two charities. He contributes generously to charities that support the developmental goals of universal healthcare and education for children.

Praveen's contribution supports the Outreach Home Based Care of Udayan Care which provides nutrition and education to children affected by HIV/AIDS.

He also supports Alternative Strategies for the Disabled (Astha) for their Community Based Rehabilitation programme at Govindpuri, Kalkaji.


Kamini Karlekar: Supporting the economically disadvantaged

A litter at the street dog shelter at Animal India TrustKamini, a young professional, with a pasion for travel and writing, works in the field of refugee rehabilitation. She supports a variety of causes ranging from animal welfare to combatting drug addiction amongst the economically diasadvantaged youngsters.

Kamini set up a Donor Advised Fund with CAF India to facilitate and enable Jan Madhyam to provide counselling facilites to young people with learning disadvantages.
